 Friends of Michigan Animal Rescue

http://www.fmar1.com

Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue (FMAR) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 tax exempt rescue for dogs and cats that started in April 2003 with the help and support of hundreds of wonderful people.  FMAR is a no-kill shelter, and provides great homes for cats and dogs until a permanent family welcomes them into their life.  Please see their website for local events, adopt-a-thons, and featured pets.  In 2006 and 2007, Dr. Lisa donated weekly behavior consultations to FMAR, and created a group called the Top Dog Club, a team of volunteers dedicated to walking and training the shelter dogs using Gentle Leaders.  They hold monthly meetings, and their work has improved the adoptability of the shelter dogs.  Dr. Lisa has written several behavior articles for the FMAR quarterly newsletter, which are also published in Pet Pals, a book by shelter co-founder Marcia LaFramboise.
