Canine Behavior Consultation

"Dogs are not only a product of their own temperament, but of their owner's as well.

You never really train a dog so much as train the owner."

Does your dog need a behavior consultation?

In addition to providing veterinary care, Dr. Melling offers in-home consultations for behavior problems in dogs.  She educates the family on the importance of consistent leadership, so the dog learns to respect their owner.  Using positive reinforcement and the Gentle Leader™ system, owners are able to correct their dog's bad habits, and replace them with good behavior.  She also accepts referral cases from veterinarians for advanced problems such as anxiety and aggression.

Common issues addressed in Behavior Consultations:

  • Tension-free leash walking

  • Jumping, barking, and lunging

  • Separation anxiety, destructive behavior

  • Fighting between pets

  • Anxiety and aggression

Pet Massage Therapy

How does massage benefit my dog or horse?

Massage therapy is a fantastic way to enrich your relationship with your pet, as well as improve his quality of life.  The benefits of massage include calming an anxious animal, increasing circulation, improving range of motion, decreasing pain, and bonding with your dog or horse.  Your pet doesn't have to be suffering from an injury to benefit from massage therapy.  Through calming and relaxing the nervous system, hyperactive pets are able to minimize nervous energy and anxiety, while increased circulation and joint movement helps aging, arthritic pets decrease muscle and joint discomfort.

Benefits of Pet Massage Therapy:

  • Enhancing the animal athlete

  • Promoting healing from injuries

  • Calming nervous pets

  • Improving mobility for arthritic pets
